Course Overview
The goal of this independent study module is to help members of FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation disaster workforce successfully communicate to the public the risks associated with wildfires, and the mitigation measures available to improve personal safety and reduce damages to structures and personal property. This module is one in a series of Independent Study modules for the Hazard Mitigation disaster workforce, which addresses appropriate basic mitigation information for public consumption regarding earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, and wildfires.
Course Objectives:
To train Hazard Mitigation Advisor Specialists to effectively explain both the wildfire hazard and how to mitigate future damages effectively to people affected by wildfires.
