Course Overview
This course introduces Emergency Support Function (ESF) #2 – Communications, which coordinates government and industry efforts for the reestablishment and provision of critical communications infrastructure and services, facilitates the stabilization of systems and applications from malicious activity, and coordinates communications support to response efforts.
Course Objectives:
- Describe the overall purpose and scope of ESF #2.
- Identify the supplemental assistance ESF #2 provides to state, local, tribal, and territorial (SLTT) governments.
- Describe the roles and responsibilities of the ESF #2 coordinator, primary agencies, and support agencies during an incident.
- Identify typical activities accomplished by ESF #2 resources.
- Describe the types of partnerships formed between ESF #2 and other response agencies and organizations.
Primary Audience
This course provides a high-level overview of ESF #2 to anyone in the emergency management community. Ideally, participants have a baseline knowledge of incident management and have taken related courses through the EMI.
